Meet the Leaders in Your Corner

Gold In Fight is run entirely by volunteers. No one on this team draws a salary. We show up because we have to, because we have seen what pediatric cancer does to families, and because we refuse to let them face it alone. Every person on this page serves from the heart.

Our Leadership Team

Mike Griffith
President and Founder
Mike is a native of Dundalk, Maryland, and served in the U.S. Army from 1983 to 2003. After retiring from the Army, he continued serving as Director of Logistics for the Defense Media Activity at Fort Meade. Mike and his wife Liane have been married for over 40 years, have two children, and seven grandkids. After seeing how devastating childhood cancer is on families, Mike co-founded Gold In Fight in September 2016.
Liane Griffith
Treasurer
Liane Griffith was born in Nuremberg, Germany, and met her husband Mike while he was serving in the U.S. Army. She retired as an underwriter for a finance company and brings that financial discipline to her role as Gold In Fight's Treasurer. Liane ensures that every dollar donated reaches the families who need it most.
Bryan Gatewood
Vice President and Director of Public Relations
Bryan Gatewood and his wife Glenda know firsthand what pediatric cancer does to a family. Their daughter Kate was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June 2010. Bryan and Glenda have since devoted their time and expertise to fighting childhood cancer, participating in national fundraising campaigns and serving as a source of hope for families walking the same road they once walked.
Glenda Gatewood
Executive Board Trustee
Glenda Gatewood serves as Executive Board Trustee for Gold In Fight. As a parent who has lived the pediatric cancer experience, Glenda brings an unshakeable commitment to supporting families with compassion and understanding. She and Bryan have raised awareness and funds for childhood cancer at the national level.
Jamie Kilmon
Director of Fundraising
Jamie is a Maryland native, along with her husband, Brandon, sons Cole and Drew, and bonus kids Abby and Dominic. Jamie works in commercial lending and is our Director of Fundraising. Her son Cole was a Gold Fighter who has since graduated from high school and is thriving as a business owner. The support they received during his treatment from GIF led her to give back.
Bill Jankiewicz
Board Member
" I’ve always respected the time and work my buddy Mike has put into his foundation and the good it does for so many young children who are afflicted by this terrible disease. For some time, I have wanted to be part of the fight to help these poor children and their families. I’ve always tried to support the foundation by showing up at the events and helping wherever I could. Now that I am retired and have more time, I want to be a closer part of the foundation and the good work it does; that’s why I decided to become a board member."

Why We Serve

Military service teaches you one thing above all else: you do not leave people behind. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, a family can feel abandoned by the world. Appointments pile up. Bills pile up. Jobs get harder to keep. The emotional weight is enormous.

Our team brings military discipline, organizational experience, and personal commitment to every family we serve. Several of our volunteers have lived the pediatric cancer experience as parents themselves. We do not talk about this fight from a distance. We are in it.

This is a volunteer organization. That means every person on this page chose to be here. We give our time because we believe families fighting pediatric cancer deserve a team in their corner, and we intend to be that team.

"We are a 100% volunteer organization. Every dollar donated goes to families.

That is our commitment and it will never change."

Mike Griffith, Founder and President
