MeganIt was quite a journey getting Megan diagnosed. The Saturday before Easter she had stomach pain and vomiting for two days. Her mother took her to Franklin Square Medical Center, where Megan was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. She was admitted to the hospital and had several tests run, but doctors could not find anything really wrong with her gallbladder. After being there for a week, she was discharged with idiopathic Pancreatitis (meaning they didn't know why she had it). Once home, Megan continued to throw up, so her mom I called the on-call pediatrician and went to GBMC. They ran tests and consulted a surgeon, Dr Lukish, who sent them to Hopkins. After several more misdiagnoses and surgeries, the team at Hopkins biopsied an ulcer on Megan’s duodenum that turned out to be lesions. After three months, they finally had the correct diagnosis: Stage 3 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Megan has had two full rounds of chemo, and her last PET scan showed that the large spot in her duodenum is barely a dot now! Pease keep our Gold Fighter and her family in your prayers!
